CAP'N JACK ANIMATED FEATURE FILM: The character: Cap'n Jack.....the ultimate anti-hero...the time....World War II: Pearl Harbor, The Blitz, Stalingrad, Guadalcanal, El Alamein, Monte Cassino, Bataan, Normandy, Paris, Berlin, Tokyo, Hiroshima, Dunkirk, Flying Bombs, U-Boats, Kamikazes... "Sink the Bismarck!" "I shall return!" "Banzai!" "Nuts!" These are the Big Events.... the giants of the time....Churchill, Hitler, Eisenhower, Stalin, Hirohito, and Roosevelt.....stride the mountains of history, never noticing the steep valleys below. If they would only bother to stop and look down, they might notice a tiny figure clinging precariously to the rotting granite. Meet Jack Kilroy of the OSS: Secret agent, secret thief, and not so secret lover. His official mission: to heroically scale the mountains and cause confusion among his country's enemies. His unofficial mission: to become the world's richest beach bum Romeo. Quietly, Kilroy repeats his mission: "Survive! Escape being shot, stabbed, garroted, crushed to death, or extruded through whatever devilish machine these crazy maniacs up there have devised! ...And if there's time, make a handsome profit!" Jack Kilroy comes from an old straightlaced Southern family with roots going back to colonial times. Jack was raised in China by his missionary parents, where he learned to speak Mandarin as well as English. He later went to school in Europe, and discovered numerous ways of getting kicked out of every boarding school for cheating, womanizing, and general larceny. This behavior didn't end with college, where he was expelled from every university from Geneva to Oxford. Inevitably Jack's family disowned him. Because of his black sheep stature, he's had to fall back on his own resources -- which are inevitably shady -- since the age of twenty-one. Gun runner, gentleman jewel thief and confidence man... Jack Kilroy is and has been all these things, and more, in his short lifetime. Jack Kilroy is a handsome rogue. Outwardly he appears the dashing hero, but inside beats the heart of a scoundrel. Jack is the ultimate charmer....his personality touching something human in all of us. He reflects the darker side of humanity, driven by self-preservation and greed. Jack Kilroy is the luckiest man you will ever meet. One might wonder if a protective angel (demon?) sits on his shoulder, directing him and pushing him towards the action, the glory, and ahhh...the beautiful women! This same angel must also be responsible for placing him at the apex of all of the most exciting historical events of WWII. Superficially, Jack is a participant of these pivotal moments in history to further the schemes and plans of his superiors in the O.S.S., the precursor to the C.I.A. But secretly, he is out to snatch the treasure, seduce the Countess, pluck the exquisite ruby from the Buddhas head or grab the Rembrant from the castle wall. All to increase his and his partner, KC's, personal fortunes. |
